Cracks often occur due to mechanical stress or thermal stress. Therefore, the pump casing should be inspected regularly. . The inspection and repair methods are as follows:

         1. Inspection of cracks:

         Tap the shell lightly with a hammer. If there is a cracking sound, it means it has cracked. You should carefully look for the location of the crack in the fluoroplastic chemical pump. If necessary, use a magnifying glass or colored flaw detection method to inspect and determine the location and length of the crack.

         2. Crack repair method:

         (1) If the crack is in a part that does not bear pressure or has no sealing effect, in order to prevent the crack from continuing to expand, a round hole with a diameter of 3 mm can be drilled at the beginning and end of the crack to eliminate local stress concentration.

         (2) If the crack is in a part that is under pressure, the repair method is as follows.

Before welding, drill a small hole at both ends of the crack, then shovel a groove along the crack, and install bolts on the groove to prevent nearby materials from pulling apart during cooling and shrinkage.

         The diameter of the additional bolts should be equal to 40% of the thickness of the welded part and should not be greater than 13mm; the distance between bolts should be 2-4 times the diameter, and the drilling depth should be equal to 2-4 times the diameter (but not drilled through) . Use a tap to set the threads, and after tightening the bolts, first build up a layer of welding on the surface, and then gradually and evenly thicken it. After each layer is welded, welding slag and impurities should be removed before welding the next layer. In order to eliminate the internal stress of the welded metal, except for the first layer and the subsequent layer, each layer of the fluoroplastic chemical pump must be lightly tapped with a hand hammer after welding to prevent the weld from cracking.
